So there isn’t much to tell with the Destiny Daily this week. It’s pretty much a nothing happening week in terms of the daily reset. There are no more patrol or strike challenges. There’s no daily milestone. The only thing to tell is the daily bounties and the modifiers for the daily heroics and the new daily heroic story missions (which for this week don’t reward anything).
Here’s your reset for August 29, 2018:
|Vanguard (Zavala)||Crucible (Shaxx)|
|Into the Abyss – Get Void kills in a strike. (25 Void kills)||All in a Day’s Work – Defeat other Guardians in the Crucible. (15 Guardians Defeated)|
|From Downtown – Defeat multiple enemies with your Super in a strike. (2 Multikills)||Closing Time – Land final blows at close rage in the Crucible. (5 Final blows)|
|Unrelenting – Kill multiple enemies in a strike without dying. (50 kills)||Brightest Day – Generate Orbs of Light in the Crucible. (7 Orbs generated)|
|The Inner Storm – Get Arc kills in a strike. (25 Arc kills)||Payback – Land the final blow on the player who last defeated you in the Crucible.|
|Fancy Shootin’ – Kill multiple enemies in a strike without reloading. (10 no-reload sprees)||Throwing Shade – Land Void final blows in the Crucible. (5 Void Final blows)|
- Solar Singe: Solar damage increases slightly from all sources.
- Iron: Enemies have more health and are not staggered by damage.
- Heavyweight: Power weapons deal more damage, and more ammo is available.
The Daily Heroic Story Missions available today are:
- Fury (280 Power)
- Unbroken (280 Power)
- Ice and Shadow (360 Power)
Yesterday, the huge Update 2.0.0. dropped and completely changed the game. If you haven’t yet done so, you can read the patch notes here.
The biggest thing for us now in the game is the weapon slot changes and the new sandbox. I spent a decent amount of time in the Crucible last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve been way down on Destiny 2’s PvP since the beta. I hated it with a passion and avoided it. Changes since Warmind have made it a lot better, and I’ve been playing it more and more. The changes yesterday only made it a much better experience and I will definitely be spending more time in the Crucible going forward.
I’ve already seen some folks complaining about shotguns everywhere. I don’t use shotguns, but I did see a lot of them last night but I didn’t die to that many of them. Stay out of shotgun range. More importantly, get a good fusion rifle like Wizened Rebuke (my favorite), Shock and Awe, or even Critical Sass. Any fusion with the Backup Plan perk will do. Keep your primary out, when you see that white glint coming towards you, switch to your fusion and melt them with the baby Plan C.
I love seeing all the shotgunners right now. If you keep a check on your radar, stay at a distance, and don’t just blindly walk around a corner, shotgunners are super easy to take down right now. You’re not helpless now because they grabbed power ammo and you don’t have anything. Even three tapping with a hand cannon will shut that shotgunner down before they get within range of you if you can aim.
The update is what Destiny needed. It’s great to be able to use the classic D1 loadout. It’s great to be able to use a D2 loadout. It’s great to be able to use a unique to the game loadout. With the buffs to the all primary weapons, particularly with crit damage, a good strategy right now is to use the D2 loadout of two primaries. They kill faster than they did, and you’ll starve the other team of their precious special ammo because if they kill you with their shotgun at least you won’t be dropping any ammo for them. And that’ll force them to die if they want to get a measly two more shots that they usually spend on one kill.
Best of all, I only encountered one team that was holding hands last night and only saw Graviton Lance like two or three times. It was very refreshing and the most fun I’ve had in crucible since D1’s PvP.
What are your thoughts on the changes made to Destiny 2? How are you liking/finding the crucible now?
