WWE NXT

Preview for tonight's show:

https://vortainment.com/2021/04/13/wwe-nxt-4-13-2021-preview/

I do hate that they've moved to Tuesday night though. NXT is my favorite show and I like watching it live, but it also appears to be the only night available for raids in D2.

Tonight:

- Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart vs. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae for the NXT Women’s Tag Titles.

- Finn Balor returns.

- Isaiah Scott vs. Leon Ruff in a Falls Count Anywhere match.

- Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa vs. James Drake and Zack Gibson.

- Sarray in action.

My interest in NXT really is at an all time low.  It's a shame to say but I've just grown tired of every single call up being insanely mishandled to the point it has made me struggle to watch.  I wish they'd just let NXT TRULY be it's own brand and send back some of the people who are just stuck in limbo and just have it's own unique roster.

Watch NXT UK then.

It's just as good, maybe even better, and their talent will transition to NXT at some point for a decent stint before getting thrown in the main roster garbage can.

Highly recommend checking out this week's NXT UK.

Great show capped off by an excellent main event for the UK Women's Championship between Kay Lee Ray and Meiko Satomura.

Here's some notes according to Meltzer:

Triple H is being blamed backstage for not winning the Wednesday Night War. His detractors who fear for their position if he takes power are using the opportunity to denigrate NXT with released wrestlers being pawns in the power struggle.

Despite running NXT, neither Triple H nor Shawn Michaels had a say in the cuts and weren't even aware of them until Laurinaitis had already called the talent.

Reed, Fish, Mercedes, Rust, Atlas and Sterling are all people that McMahon and his group didn't think were main roster talents so there was no reason to keep them employed.

Imagine blaming Triple H for not winning an imaginary war with what internally is a developmental brand and externally is the C brand. Win a war where your top talent consistently gets brought up to the main roster and do nothing to get squashed which just sends a message to those WWE fans who don't watch that NXT is nothing.

With the money Trips has, he should give Vince the finger and quit.

It sadly would never happen, but man it would be cool if Trips could get together with someone like The Rock and whatever investors he can bring, buy the NWA and get it on some good network. Then he could work with the other promotions like he had been open to doing anyway.

Thought tonight's NXT was really good. Nice mix of good wrestling, squashes, and comedy.

Apparently the report of Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard running NXT was inaccurate. Seems that Triple H, HBK, Regal, Bloom are still running the show and the day-to-day operations. Just McMahon and Prichard will have a say in the direction, look of the show and the marketing.

We'll see what happens. The show next week has some good stuff announced; I'm looking forward to it. I think NXT getting back to developing stars and being less of an Indy might be a good thing for WWE.

They have a much better record of developing new stars with that system than they do correctly using guys who made a name for themselves elsewhere (for the most part).

Already like this Creed Brothers team in the Diamond Mine. You've got the Stevenson brothers that are signed and will be developed, plus the son of Rick Steiner. Give me more of that style.

So NXT 2.0...

I don't hate it.

I like that it had a faster pace to it. I kinda like parts of the new look of the arena. I'm not a fan of the giant LED screen, nor it and the NXT logo flashing throughout the entire show.

Hate the camera cuts. Why can't Kevin Dunne just go away and enjoy the money he's made for absolutely sucking?

The paint splatter and rainbow colors need to go. I'm ok with bright, and having the arena lit up (and they could go further and stop drowning the crowd out in blue lights, just like RAW, Smackdown, Dynamite do as well).

Introducing new stars is good. I like the developmental feel to it. Feels more like early NXT. Obviously wish it were on the Network instead of TV and still one hour long.

Bron Breakker is a dumb name, should just call him Rex Steiner.

Creed Brothers are still awesome.

Von Wagoner out there looking like a white Khali and I can't unsee it. When he was in the back with Regal with his hair up he had a sort of cave man vibe, but then comes out in those pants, with his hair down and looked just like Great Khali. Then he did the generic double arm raise like Khali and I almost died.

I'm not making fun of his appearance, but dude legit looks like Khali. Supposedly McMahon said this guy was "the next Edge," and yeah I don't see that ever.

The wedding was very entertaining.

We'll see where the show goes from here. Give me more Gigi Dolin and Creed Brothers.

I can't for the life of me understand the booking of having LA Knight job to open the show in around 4 minutes to a guy making his debut on the same show he's set to challenge for the title.

Agree that the name is atrocious but we'll see.  Lord knows thought the name Dolph Ziggler would be a flop.

I hated the "lets throw a ton a new talent at you at once" approach.  Reminded me of Russo pushing the lower midcard guys as main event starts out the blue.  How bout that Kidman/Hogan feud.

You have to build some of these people up slowly and give us time to care and see what they can do.

I like the brighter lights and studio seating setup but hate the logo and bright colors.  Made the show look like it was filmed at Nick studios in the 90's I kept waiting for someone to get slimed.

Pleasantly surprised Ciampa won and that we had a wrestling wedding with no run in.

Overall we'll see, be insane to judge a show off one week.  Definitely some good and some bad but need to see it fully cooked

This week's show much better than last week's, which was fairly decent.

I'm liking the character work. For me, feels a lot like a mixture of New Generation and early NXT.

Was a fun two hours. Next week looks solid as well.

Loving the new NXT. The new characters. well most of them, have been a breath of fresh air the show desperately needed.

They're doing a really good job of mixing the new with the old. The vignettes and hype packages also top notch.

It's good to see characters again. This is a style I'd like to see incorporated into the main shows.

Card of Halloween Havoc looks great:

- NXT Championship Match: Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Bron Breaker
- Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal NXT Women's Championship Match: Raquel Gonzalez (c) vs. Mandy Rose
- Scareway to Hell Ladder NXT Women's Tag Team Championship Match: Io Shirai & Zoey Stark vs. Toxic Attraction vs. Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta
- Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal NXT Tag Team Championship Match: MSK (c) vs. Imperium
- Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams invited to an Open House by Dexter Lumis and Johnny Gargano
- Solo Sikoa debuts
