Amazon Announces Luna Cloud Gaming Service

Amazon has announced their own cloud gaming service to compete with Google Stadia and other such services. Amazon’s is called Luna.

You can register for Early Access here.

Luna will all you to stream games to your PC, Mac, Fire TV devices, and iPhone and iPad. Android support will come soon.

Luna’s big difference is that it offer different Game Channels that you can subscribe to, which each channel having access to its own library of games.

For example, the Amazon Luna+ Channel will cost $5.99 per month and will launch with Control, Resident Evil 7, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair. Luna+ offers 4K resolution at 60fps for select titles, and you’ll be able to play on two devices simultaneously.

Another announced channel is the Ubisoft Game Channel. This one only allows you to play on one device at a time, will support 1080p/60fps (4K coming soon). More importantly, it’ll give subscribers access to Ubisoft games on the day and date they launch regularly. The cost per month for the Ubisoft Channel has not been revealed.

Of course Luna will also feature Twitch integration, where you’ll be able to watch Twitch streams for the games in the service on their page and from Twitch you’ll be able to instantly start playing games on Luna.

There’s no word yet on when Early Access will launch, but again you register for it here.

Amazon also announced that there will be an Alexa-enabled Luna controller that will connect to Fire TV devices directly in order to reduce latency. This controller will cost $49.99 during the early access period. Of course you’ll also be able to use other Bluetooth controllers as well as mouse and keyboard.
