It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these, but that’s partly because I play little outside of Destiny 2… or at least did for a while. I’m becoming increasingly frustrated with Destiny, and perhaps burnt out, so I’ve been playing very little of it the past two weeks.nAs a result, I’ve finally made time to really get into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I got it last year and played very little of it, for no other reason than I was to busy playing Destiny with Forsaken and then the Black Armory stuff.nIf you’re an avid reader of the site, then you know it is no secret that Assassin’s Creed is my favorite franchise. I’ve loved every game from the second one on up (the first one was good, just started slow and never got better than simply good… the other ones have all been great or better).nI’m currently level 38 and over half way through the main campaign, with my total playtime right now at 41 hours. I’m enjoying it a ton and clearing areas before moving on to advance the story, so I’m in no rush.nSo far, I’m liking it even better than I did Origins. That’s saying something, because if you click that link you’ll know that I gave Origins 5 stars when I reviewed it and think it is an excellent game.nOdyssey marks a continued evolution of the franchise, building on all the key changes that were introduced with Origins. Everything is more refined and polished even better. And as much as I love ancient Egypt and that mythology, I am much more partial to the ancient Greek setting/mythology.nThe world of Odyssey looks phenomenal. Egypt looked great in Origins, but there was a lot of desert and thus a lot of brown. Here there’s lush gardens and forests, and the world is packed with vibrant colors. Not that Origins didn’t have it’s share of that in places, because it certainly did, but the Greek setting is just more appealing with beautiful landscapes and impressive cities.nWhen I first started playing it last year, I was playing as Alexios. With this play-through, I switched to Kassandra and I’m liking her a lot.nRight now, I’ve got two chapters left going by the trophies, so I’m nearing the end of the campaign. Of course with sidequests, collectibles, and other trophy related stuff, I have A LOT left to do. I do own the season pass, so that means I still have Legacy of the First Blade and Fate of Atlantis to work through as well.nWhen my adventure in ancient Greece comes to an end, I’ll easily be well over 100 hours into it. Could be even more if I decide to do a New Game+, because the game is a ton of fun and I can see myself pushing to hit max level and get a good build going. I’ll certainly get the platinum for it though.nThankfully, there was no new Assassin’s Creed game this year, so I’m not getting behind any further. The unofficial word is that the next game comes out in 2020 and will be centered around the Vikings, which sounds awesome because I also liking Norse stuff. The cities aren’t going to be as spectacular as Athens with all the cool architecture and stuff, but will still be pretty nice and of course the naval stuff will have a big role too (which I’ve loved in Odyssey).nSo that’s what I’ve been playing recently and will continue to play as my “main game” until I get the platinum. My issues with Destiny 2 aside, I’m stilling playing it to run a dungeon or a raid, but that’s about it right now.
