Sega is jumping on the nostalgia bandwagon of releasing a mini-console packed with 40 games. The company will be bringing the Sega Genesis Mini to stores worldwide this September.

The Genesis Mini is based on the original Genesis and will come with 40 games, two USB Genesis controllers, and of course power and HDMI cables.

The system will retail for $79.99 and will release on September 19th.

Here’s some of the games that will be included with the system, with Sega promising more games will be announced over the coming months. The Genesis Mini ports are being done by M2, the studio that worked with Sega on both the Sega Aces and Sega 3D Classics Collection.

  • Altered Beast
  • Castlevania: Bloodlines
  • Comix Zone
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
  • Ecco the Dolphin
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Shining Force
  • Space Harrier 2
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • ToeJam & Earl

Patriot’s Ponderings: Sega games have been ported to just about every system in numerous collections that I just don’t see the need for this. And I say that as a Genesis fan back in the day. There’s some good stuff announced, that you can still play elsewhere, but seeing Altered Beast as the first game on the list leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
