Gearbox will be premiering the first gameplay of Borderlands 3 today at a live event, and you can watch it live on Twitch.

Thanks to the new Twitch extension, Echocast, you’ll have to the chance to score in-game Borderlands 3 loot while you watch the gameplay reveal event.

Gearbox has brought out hundreds of streamers that will be playing and livestreaming Borderlands 3 today. If you’ve linked your SHiFT and Twitch accounts, the Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch extension will let you interact with the livestreams in a bunch of ways.

Linking your SHiFT and Twitch accounts isn’t required to make use of the ECHOcast extension as a viewer, but not doing so means you won’t be able to participate in the Rare Chest Events which are detailed below.

  • If you don’t have a SHiFT account, you can set one up via the SHiFT logo at the top of this site or over at the Gearbox SHiFT site. SHiFT accounts are free.
  • If you don’t have a Twitch account, head over to twitch.tv and use the “Sign Up” link at the top of the page. Twitch accounts are free.
  • Linking your accounts is easy. Visit the settings tab on your SHiFT profile page, click on the Twitch logo, and follow the onscreen instructions to link your account. Alternatively, sign in to your SHiFT account over at the Gearbox SHiFT site, click on “Gaming Platforms” on the left, and then click on the “Link” option under the Twitch logo. Once version 1 of the ECHOcast extension is available on May 1, you’ll also be able to use the SHiFT button in its menu to navigate to the correct SHiFT webpage and link your accounts if you haven’t done so already.

The extension will allow you to check out the streamer’s Vault Hunter Profile, view their Inventory, dive into their Skill Tree, and most importantly take part in Rare Chest Events.

In-game, threare special rare chests that are guarded by powerful enemies. Once a streamer opens a rare chest, you’ll have 30 seconds to opt into the event. If you’re one of the winners, the extension will notify you and give you 30 seconds to choose which item from the chest you’d like to receive (item will automatically scale to your level). The item will be in your in-game mailbox to claim once Borderlands 3 releases on September 13th.

You can also join the Vault Insider Program. Being a Borderlands VIP will allow you to start earning points that you can redeem in Borderlands 3 for in-game items in the future and redeem for Gold Keys to unlocks chests in the current Borderlands games. You’ll earn points by reading articles, linking Twitch and social media accounts, watching trailers, redeeming codes, and more.

The gameplay reveal event happens today at 12pm CT, with a pre-show beginning at 11:30am. You can watch it below:
