Sony Shutting Down PS Store on PS3, Vita & PSP

PlayStation Store

Last week a rumor went around that Sony was going to, or was considering, shutting down the digital PlayStation Store on PS3, PS Vita and PSP. Today the company has confirmed that this is something that is happening.

On July 2, 2021 the PlayStation Store will be closed on PS3 and PSP. The store will close on August 27, 2021 for PS Vita.

On those dates, you will no longer be able to purchase digital content (games or video) for PS3, Vita and PSP. No purchases through in-game menus. And you will no longer be able to redeem PSN wallet funds on those devices.

Your PSN wallet funds will remain in your PSN account, only able to be used to purchase PS4 and PS5 products on the PlayStation Store website, PlayStation App, or the PS4 and PS5 consoles.

If you are only active on a PS3, PS Vita or PSP device, don’t use a PS4 or PS5 console, and don’t plan on using one, you may request a refund of any funds left in your wallet.

With the store removed from those legacy devices, you will still be able to…

  • Redownload and play previously purchased games.
  • Access previously purchase video/media content.
  • Redeem game and PlayStation Plus vouchers.
  • Re-download and play claimed game titles through PlayStation Plus as long as you remain a subscriber of the service.

For a complete rundown and FAQ, be sure to check out the notice that Sony put up here.

If there’s a digital PS3, Vita, PSP, PS1 Classic or PS2 Classic that you’ve been meaning to pick up, your time is sadly running out.
